Russia continues to use older military technology for several reasons. First, it can be more cost-effective to maintain and upgrade existing equipment rather than investing in new, more expensive technology. Second, some older equipment may still be effective in certain combat scenarios. Additionally, Russia's military industry has a long history of producing and maintaining older equipment, and there may be a preference for familiar and reliable technology. Finally, geopolitical and economic factors may also play a role in the decision to continue using older military technology. **

In most cases, military personnel are not able to choose their own equipment. The military typically issues standard equipment to its members based on their role and the specific needs of their unit. However, there may be some flexibility for personal preferences within certain guidelines or regulations. **
